VJ Day Parade 2025
The 64th Annual VJ Day Parade will take place in Moosup, Connecticut on Sunday, August 10, 2025, with step-off scheduled for 1:01 PM. This longstanding event honors those who have served in the United States Armed Forces and continues to be an important tradition in eastern Connecticut.
This year’s parade is held in remembrance of Arthur “Archie” Lapierre, a United States Army veteran and lifelong member of American Legion Post 91. His contributions to both the local veteran community and the town of Plainfield will be recognized throughout the event.
The 2025 theme is “Remembering Those Who Served and are Still Serving.” The parade will feature veterans from multiple generations, military representatives, local organizations, and community groups.
Notable honorees this year include:
- Parade Marshal Joseph Caminiti, USMC, World War II veteran and Iwo Jima survivor
- Grand Marshal Brigadier General Ron Welch, United States Army (Ret.), Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs
The Plainfield Democratic Town Committee will be live streaming the entire parade for those unable to attend in person.
